I was walking through the booths at the ADA meeting in New Orleans last week. Just like any meeting like this, there are a lot of the same things. I walked around a corner and ran into the Zeiss booth. They were out past where most people were willing to walk, but there was a lot of buzz over some glasses. So, I stopped to take a look.
After wearing the Zeiss Cinemizer video glasses for about 2 minutes I knew I had to have them! They were unreal! These video lenses actually make you feel like you are right in the middle section of a movie theater and you’re not fighting to focus or feel like you’re going to get sick! It was very comfortable, and it was the best 3D image that I’ve ever seen.
The 3D image is a truer 3D because each eye sees a completely different screen, unlike in the movies where you have to have special glasses to look at one screen. I could have watched the movie, Avatar, all day through these things.
The best part for dentistry is that it is set up to be wiped down, and the eyepieces can be taken out and cold sterilized. The earpieces also have disposable covers that are pretty cheap.
Although they weren’t in the most ideal placement for booths at the ADA convention, they were nearly sold out of the Cinemizers! They had sold 50 in just a couple of days. They were in the $1100-$1200 range at the meeting. I’m not sure what the regular price would be. I bought two!
You can check them out on the Zeiss website.
