This case is one of my favorites for a ton of reasons. This is my first case at my new home for digital awesomeness, Implant Pathway! Implant Pathway is part of a non profit clinic, New Horizon which serves the less fortunate. This case and a number of others were done free of charge on these deserving patients. Dr Chris Epperson really deserves all the credit on this one. He did the surgery, placed the multi units, did the denture conversion and helped scan. This patient was part of the Implant Pathway Level 4 continuum which teaches docs how to do full arch implant All on X surgery. Dr Chris placed the Multi Units and did the conversion after he healed up.
The next part was surprisingly easy! Bio Horizons has a really nice designed Multi Unit Scan Body which is now included with all the multi units. Because it was so short, it was really easy to scan. We didn’t have a sand blaster, and due to the fact that it is shiny metal, I had to whip out the Scan Spray to get the lowers. The white squiggly marks are composite, Liquid Dam that comes with Zoom Whitening kits from Phillips. A pre-op scan was done with just Primescan of the existing converted dentures to get the vertical. Then when we remove them we scan the scan bodies and the white markers help us line the scans up. We DID NOT use Imetric Photogrammetry scans on this case as we wanted to test the fit of an all CEREC Primescan case vs a few other arches we have going at Implant Pathway which we scanned with CEREC and Imetric.
Here is how we match up the bite scans with the scan body scans using the composite fiducial markers.
Here are the scan markers, perfectly aligned with the bite, this was prior to touching the hybrid with a bur.
3 things that we have a hard time getting in Digital Hybrids: Passive Fit, the Bite, and Esthetics. I think Dr Chris Epperson and I nailed all 3. Looked at the Occlusion on the Digital Hybrid and what it is in the mouth. No Facebow, No articulators! The patient was functioning on an existing converted denture on his implants and with that we incorporated the bite. Some minor bite adjustments on what is in essence a two appointment implant full mouth rehab.
Zirconia turned out nice! Patient was happy with the PMMA and even more so with the finals!
Love the work that Prosmiles does. As always a passive fit and no occlusal adjustment!
Can’t beat that bite!
Feels great to give back at Implant Pathways. Patient is getting Tacos next!
If you want to try this out live, we will be lining up multiple arches to scan using any IOS scanner and the Imetric system! Doc will learn the analog as well as the digital workflow from everything from singles, over dentures and hybrids! Come to Implant Pathway Nov 5-7!1.
