Here is a quick case we worked in between two other patients. #12 broken at the gum line. Now, could you do a retreat, post, crown lengthening and a crown? Yes, but I don’t think long term we would have as predictable a result. above the bone we have about 2mm of ferrule. After cleaning out the old gutta percha and preparing for the post, we would have an even more brittle root.
Scanned the case, just due to time and the fact that the clinical situation was so easy, I opted to do this non guided. I love the 4.7mm for immediate pre molars as it grips the lateral walls of the socket well, but the oblong nature of the socket/root form allows for gap distance on both the buccal and lingual.

In the implant went. Well centered between the contacts and central fissures of the adjacent teeth.

Angled x-ray. Took a another shot and we are at least 1.5mm away from the adjacent teeth. Temp a bit bulky, will wait 4 weeks then contour it a bit. Grafted with a sliver of collagen membrane on the buccal, no sutures as the temp covered the socket well.
