Printed a Hybrid, Felt Cute, Might Delete…IDK…..3D printed hybrid on Carbon 3D, with a 3Shape scan by Jacob Farber Design

 

 

  

 

We have so many really big cases at Brighterway, if you are not familiar, its a dental clinic that caters to those in the homeless shelter, the working poor and low income veterans.  Dr Joe Mehrenfar, residents and some full time docs take care of this awesome population.  Brigherterway hosts implant courses where docs place implants and usually deliver converted dentures but over time these can’t withstand the awesome forces that 4 to 6 implants  deliver. They really didn’t have the budget to restore in Zirconia, but a few great companies reached out.  3Shape  delivered 5 Trios Machines, Aman Girchach gave a top of line line Ceramill: Scanner/Software and Mill tand Carbon, truly the most advanced  3D printer, was donated as well in hopes of giving these deserving patients their final restorations.  Dr Joe Mehranafar and Mr Scott Lauer asked around, and I was lucky enough to volunteer to help.  I will say, I thought I was equipped with 15 plus years in CAD/CAM but I have to say, I am really learning as I go. That is not necessarily a bad thing as I am trying lots of different off the wall solutions to some pretty complex problems!  But, alas this is an easy one!!

Here is an failing converted, all on 4. Converted denture in need of a zirconia final. Nobel replace RP platform with MUAs.  Scanned the converted hybrid to get the vertical which that patient was comfortable wit!. Used the Pre-Preparation scan option in 3shape and got the BUCCAL BITE, so important.  Used Opti Dam from Philips for fiducial markers.  Later used the same markers to “erase” the scan of the hybrid to get the scan body scan.

 

 

So here is the sort of final, 3D printed, I know in the video to follow I said, Asiga.  Got a few mixed up this was Carbon!!  Layered with Anaxgum, by Brighteway’s Chris Chunn!!  See the video, minor and I mean, minor adjustments.  Printed in Dentec’s MFH hybrid composite using DESS non engaging Ti bases off Nobel MUA attachments.  Final Multi Layered Zirconia will me milled and Layered by Alien Milling featuring Alien Extreme Zirconia with 49% translucency and 4 gradients of color!!

Here is his final!!  We will be extracting his lower and doing another hybrid, he wanted to go whiter and the lowers Weill be made to match!!  Nice work from Burbank Dental lab!
