This is a cool project that has been on my mind for a while. I have always wanted my own surgical product line. I came across a company that makes surgical supplies while designing my CEREC Guide keys. I have so many things I like, but wanted to change and modify. So I have been designing a line of surgical tools and its still in the drawing board but will coincide with the launch of the new Implants Made Easy website, that will, amongst other things have an online store to buy books, CEREC Guide keys, Drills Stops, Contour healers. basically everything I use.
To demo, here is a case of a simple graft. #3 broken off at the gum line. Just want to get it out, graft and take care of some other areas of decay. Discussed options of a bridge vs implant. In this case, a lateral sinus lift would be needed as we only have about 2mm of bone around the furcation. Removed the roots with various instruments in the kits I will release. I am going to have a Periotome line, a Forceps line, and a basic kit that can be used for Implants and Grafting.
After getting out the soft tissue we packed some DFDBA. I just love this little grafting tool. It has the “elephant trunk” end for getting down to the socket apex and then a packing end to smooth things over. Important not to pack too dense, but you do want graft. To get where it needs to.
Castro Viejo Needle Holder. In this case we used a resorbable membrane. I was able t close relative close around this. Also, due to the loss of bone before extraction, we know we will still need to augment the graft with a sinus lift if the patient chooses to go with an implant. One risk of a non resorbable membrane is post of infection and it was just not worth it in this case where we really cant get a lot of bone height anyway. So stay tuned for the release of my surgical instruments soon on implantsmadeeasy.com!
