MacGyver’s Got Nothing on Me: Repairing and Re-basing a Hybrid

This is what I love about Hybrids. Patient broke one of the anterior teeth.  Also, the lab had originally designed the lower as more of a “High and Dry” design and he just kept packing food under it.  So we decided to repair the broken tooth and reline it with a convex surface at the same time.  Took a pick up impression .

To get the underside we went ahead and did an open tray impression as well.

We used Stiff Bite Registration as the Body and Take 1 as the wash.  I adjusted his old denture as best I could so he could wear something in the interim.

The lab stripped the hybrid, added a new tooth and waxed and re-based it.  Burbank did this one.

Back in the mouth, less space underneath, but still easy to clean with super floss, a proxabrush and his water pick.  If this was fixed with porcelain, it would certainly be a lot harder.  Unscrew the hybrid and its the lab’s job, not yours.
