The new Digital Guides are out! Obviously one area of concern is if they are as accurate as Opti Guides. I’ve done a number of cases and so far so good! So here is a step by step simple anterior case. Patient had a cantilevered temp on #7 and 8 after a previously failed implant. She came in and we scanned her and took impressions for a flipper. Since the last implant failed I didn’t want to take any chances. I made sure I planned my SSI file with a margin mimicking the CEJ of the adjacent teeth.
Always good to get a feel of the patient’s lip line. Now you can activate Smile Design in the administration phase and access it in the model screen. Obviously we have a high smile line, so we really have to nail this one.
Just some comparison images but you can see that we look really close to where we planned the case.
I love the hard/soft material that Burbank uses, it feels a little tighter than traditional optiguides.
I smoothed the broken temp/overhang and the patient will wear the flipper. Super easy case. Now if I had CEREC Guide 2 blocks I would have definitely used them.
