One of the things that is fun at Brighterway is that sometimes things don’t go to plan and that’s OK! We are constantly refining our protocols for all digital hybrids, over dentures and even full dentures. But, and I won’t even say sometimes, older is better!! I had the pleasure of meeting, truly, the world’s best dental technician bar none, Arian Deutsche MDT and his wife, Muriel Deutsche MDT as they were volunteering at Brighterway and wanted to give a VET a set of dentures or over dentures. Enter this guy, one of my favorite patients there, super thankful and super happy. Me being all cocky, I challenged Arian to do this case: me digital vs him analog. I’m going to give you a few guesses to see who won! Patient has an existing ill fitting denture with the teeth in open bite (more so than normal) and showing a lot of gum. I scanned with Trios using Bio horizons scan bodies. We had two types, the longer, press fit types I was not a big fan. Made my little wedgie bite in Meshmixer. Muriel Deutsch helped me out with design. Arian took impressions and records on his end, with a Gothic arch tracing. Was truly inspiring to watch that guy work.

After getting the dentures fabricated on our end and seeing the dentures that Arian made, it wasn’t even a contest, Arian won!! Dr Joe did an amazing job with picking up the locators using auto mix hard reline and making sure to poke vent holes in the denture to keep the material away from the gingiva so as to not burn the patient and not lock on.
Dr Joe inserted the locators and the housings as well as the rings and picked them up. The black rubber attachments are just meant for pick up.
Amazing work from both Arian and Dr Joe!! I gladly bow down in my digital inferiority to analog skill and awesomeness!!
