Being that we are all a bit tech minded its fun to push the envelope, but sometimes it pushes back. Here is a case where I converted a CEREC Guide 2 RST to STL with the help of InLab 16 and it didn’t fit. Interesting enough in retrospect it may be more of a CEREC chair side vs CEREC Ortho thing or just good old fashioned distortion. Who knows but from now on, all full arch cases I’m doing in CEREC Ortho. Planed the case as usual, #31 lots of bone. Moving away from punches.
Ran out of SG Resin on the Formlabs printer so just used model resin. Soaked in CHX for 30 minutes before surgery. Checked in Meshmixer for errors. When placed in the mouth it rocked from side to side. I know a lot of docs are now just printing quad guides but I like the stability of cross arch. Ended up ditching the guide.
Flapped and placed a somewhat apically positioned flap. Had use the exact same model to make am Essix which worked great so thats kinda weird. But hey, got it done. Which leads me back to newbies and placing. Although you will find no one who is more of a guided fan than me, its always good to know how to do it without one!!
