All too often patients do not understand that fissures of teeth can be channels for bacteria to travel deeper into the tooth.
These molars easily read between 30-40 on Kavo’s Diagnodent. This is a value that indicates that dentin is affected and restorations are indicated. This laser allows for a digital diagnosis to be done earlier in the course of caries development.
Time past, and the caries continued. It eventually led to a broken disto-buccal cusp.
There are multiple ways to restore these teeth, but a digital solution was selected: CAD/CAM inlay and onlay with composite. The caries was removed and the teeth prepared for CEREC restorations. A light powder spray was used with Optispray by Sirona and imaged with CEREC’s Blue Camera. The restorations were both milled with in 10 minutes using an MCXL milling chamber.
They were then treated and bonded in with Multilink by Ivoclar-Vivadent.
