With places like Smile Direct Club and Candid, more and more of us are printing out own aligners. Lots of companies now that can design for you from $240 to about $450. Well how does $150 sound? Full Contour is a design group that caters to labs. They have been big on the crown and bridge realm and now are designing aligner cases. The fee is $99 for less than 7 aligners and $150 for a full case. You also have a choice of sending the design case to your lab for printing and fabricating or 3D printing it yourself!!
There are more and more CLIP based printers on the market now and finally the price is coming down. CLIP stands for Continuous Liquid Interface Production, basically rather than the build plate bobbing up and down, due to lower forces on the bottom of the resin vat the build plate just moves straight up, yielding a super fast print. We printed 5 models in 39 minutes!! Just like Invisalign Full Contour gets you a PDF and movie to review your case and their turnaround is 3 days!
After pressure forming on the printed models, everything is about the same. Snapped in well. Will post the final in about 8 months!
