Does This Healing Abutment Make Me Look Fat? Using the Contour Healer on a Sinus Lift Case

Here is a completed case that I posted earlier.  Patient had Sinus lift that “migrated” buccally and distally.  I always like to use 5.7 or at least 5.2 mm diameter implants, but in this case the amount of bone he had would only accommodate a 4.2mm implant.

We did the case guided and ended up doing an additional Sommers lift, adding bone ahead of the implant and using the implant to further lift the membrane.

After 4 months of healing, the patient’s gingiva grew up and over the healing abutment, so I used my handy dandy Sirolase and removed the tissue, placed the impression transfer, and replaced the healing abutment with a longer one.

I found on “the google” these Countour Healers, which are anatomic healing abutments.  I replaced his titanium cylindrical abutment with the one.  You can see how nicely the tissue has been formed.  Ideally I would have wanted to place this at surgery, but I just found out about these.

Final. Looks like I am shy with attached tissue, but that may be the crown pushing the tissue, I will take a follow up image when the tissue matures.  Again, I would have wanted to use a wider implant, but sometimes you just have to work with what God gives you!

Here is the follow up scan.  Definitely could have gone wider and more palatal, but so far so good.
