I usually name my implant posts with funny titles, like “I like big abutments and I cannot lie”, but when it comes to simple crowns I got nothing! Bread and butter GP stuff, #19 old PFM with recurrent decay. Judging from the surrounding teeth we are not talking about a super esthetic demanding patient. Don’t make fun of my ugly prep but thats the great thing about Zirconia! The margins although should be smooth, can have some bevels or not be as demanding as a porcelain prep.
Note to self, TURN OFF THE WATER ON YOUR HANDPIECE!! Ugh, dry milled and cut off the sprue but got it all wet so I had to sinter with a drying cycle! Note the size change of the restoration. Again, you got to get Todd’s sprue removal tool! Be gentle though as Zirconia feels like sidewalk chalk in its un sintered state.
I am almost at a point where I am just going to polish these and not accentuate the grooves. Was tempted but the grooves were too deep so I filled them up with lustre paste. Good ol fashioned hand mixed relyx for easy clean up. Definitely will be using this for all of my posterior crowns where esthetics are not a big concern, and then Emax for everything else full coverage.
