A Little Pink Saves the Day with Emax CERAM

Pink porcelain is sometimes needed to fix those times where the gingiva just cannot live.

This was a difficult case on many different levels, but mainly in that the bone grafts never seemed to build  the tissue enough.   Multiple attempts were made and this was as high as was achievable.

The patient also declined to have the root canals re-treated at 8 and 12.   Who could blame him when they were done when he was a child.   We agreed that if they became a problem, we could address them with retreatment or implants.

Implant position and spacing was also difficult.  This left us with only one position at #9 and very close to #8.   Because of this the draw of the implant next to #8 was very tight, and they had to be worked in carefully.  Because an implant was impossible at 10, a cantilever was made from #9.

Because the tissue was lacking, the only other option was “pink porcelain.”   The Emax CERAM system has an excellent selection of addition ceramics in the red/pink/coral shades.   Following Ivoclar-Vivadent’s directions of use for them, “gingiva” could be made.   The gingiva porcelains were added to emax CAD.
