A young woman was struggling with two Maryland bridges. They were cemented multiple times throughout her life. She didn’t like the unpredictability and the esthetics. The pontic teeth were small, and were in different places at every re-cementation.
We did a waxup for two full bridges and two veneers. We split the one-visit appointment in to two phases: restore her right side, and then restore the left side.
A slight gingivectomy was completed with a diode laser (Odyssey from Ivoclar Vivadent.) The bridge and the veneer for the right side were inserted and the left side was started.
The bridge was also milled out of eMax CAD LT B1 along with the veneer for the premolar. They were fired in a CS3 oven (Ivoclar Vivadent) and inserted. At the follow up appointment we discussed how much she and her family loved the appearance and the stability. We set up for her “portraits” for which we coach on how to now “use” them in a smile. Completing many cosmetic makeovers, I have found that people need a bit of training on smiling, and doing a simple headshot portrait session is a great way for them to discover what works the best for them.
