Tetric CAD is a new hybrid ceramic-resin. It is mainly ceramic in volume with a resin matrix and touts the highest biflexural strength of all resin-ceramics: 272mPa. It will come in an HT and MT lines.
Because of its resin nature, it mills extremely well and fast. Best of all, it is easily polished. Ivoclar Vivadent suggests using their Optrapol polishing system. It is an easy one-polish system and works very well with Tetric CAD and EvoCeram, one of their direct composites.
This case was restored with Tetric EvoCeram on the second molar. The first molar was restored with Tetric CAD (MT A2). Undercuts were blocked out with Tetric flowable (A3,) and the restoration was bonded in with a total etch technique (37% phosphoric acid — Ultra Etch from Ultradent,) Adhese SE, and Variolink Esthetic (dual cure, warm.)
When bonding this material, it is important to follow the bonding directions, especially to ONLY use low particle size sandblast on the intaglio. It is followed up with rinsing/drying, and Adhese SE. You do not use acid or a silane. These are critical steps to follow to get the highest bond strengths over the long term.

After milling, it is sandblasted on the internal surface and bonded in following protocol.
Utilizing Variolink Esthetic allows for an easy clean up and blended margin. A one-step polishing system was used after residual resin cement was cleared.
