CEREC 4.6 with GC Cerasmart

CEREC 4.6 is being released, and the scans are exceptional. The depth of colors are getting closer and closer to photorealism. The HDR visual mode of 4.6 is really nice for depth. However, the 3D DATA is actually the most important thing because that is what we are milling to! Check out the model and restoration without color! That’s some serious detail, and CEREC’s Biogeneric calculation really nailed it.

Great time to have an array of materials in dentistry as well. This is GC’s Cerasmart bonded with Ivoclar-Vivadent’s Variolink Esthetic. It is a resin/ceramic mixture that has the benefits of better modulus of elasticity, reparability, and easy machining.

This molar had simple occlusal caries, but a large band of demineralization of the enamel where the distal marginal ridge was lost. The caries easily penetrated into the zone of demineralization as well.
