I am really liking Archform!! Arform.co is where you download it. The software is free, and its $50 per case export. In my office I divide up who to send aligners to based on complexity. A year and a half or more: send to Invisalign. 6 month to a year and a half: exceed-ortho.com and less than 6 months, I am going to use Archform. Although it is capable of longer more complex cases, I would feel more comfortable having an orthodontist plan those. Scanned in CEREC, although you don’t need it for class I cases, the patient needed an implant on #19 so we did a face scan and CBCT.
I’ll go over a checklist of things to look out for when planning your cases or evaluating a ClinCheck, If we look at the case we can see a few things. This patient is Class I Molar and Class I canine, so we aren’t dealing with a skeletal problem, we just have some crowding, rotations and tipping. The patient has some uneven gingival heights, so we will try to even those up with extruding and intruding, but may do a little gingivectomy at the end. The patient’s chief complaint was that she didn’t like how her 2 front teeth were proclined, and did not like the crowding. Her canines are tipped lingual which is what we want. So we are just going to be working with the front 8 teeth.
Archform is a ridiculously easy program to use. Simply click on the teeth you want included in the aligner. The software does an OK job of segmenting the teeth, but you need to help it a bit. When you move the teeth the software picks an attachment for you based on the movement and its magnitude. You can even tell the software to set up your models for vertical printing.
The rest is no different from any other aligner case. .5mm sheets on the Drufomat for the attachment aligner and .75mm for all the other aligners. This is a 10 aligner case, so I will post the final!
